Newbie says Hi

I hope this kind of post is allowed, because I fell into the SGA rabbit hole and I need company to flail to!



So a few weeks ago there was a Stargate Atlantis re-run from the very first episode, and I decided to give it a try and watch it. For the first time, ever. Because back then, when it actually started and I realized there will be no Jack and no Daniel, I lost interest.

15 years later, I decided to give it another try, and I did and I almost gave up again, after a few episodes, because McKay was SO annoying.

I wanted to check out Jason Momoa though, who joins the show in season 2, so I had to sit through season 1 and I‘m glad I did. It got better and though I was determined to ship Sheppard/Dex, McShep kicked in eventually, and even Rodney doesn‘t annoy me as much as he used to.

I also started shipping Ronon/Carson, because guuuh! Beckett is so kind and sweet and brave and badass and Ronon is making me stupid with his ridiculous hotness, and that‘s just a mix I can‘t resist.

Sadly, I‘m pretty much alone with that feeling, because there‘s just like 20 fics about them on AO3, and the fic archives from pre-AO3 era all seem to be offline. Feel free to rec me your favourite fics (McShep, Lorne/Parrish, or even Ronon/Carson, if it ever woke your interest.)

So I‘m thinking about writing them myself in NaNo-vember, because I‘m on season 4 right now and I can‘t wait to see Carson again (yes, I had to spoiler myself). I can imagine to start with how Ronon deals with the loss (I feel sad just thinking about it, tbh) and then throw in the team being there for him, and then Carson comes back and yeah, we‘ll see…


So, is anyone still reading here? Maybe even still shipping them?

McShep? oh hell yes. Popkin16's mcshep list and romancingmcshep are a good places to start.

Ronon/Carson? I am intrigued by this and never thought of them as a pairing. If you write it, I will read it. :)

There is also sga_saturday here on DW that does a monthly writing prompt... a new one should be out this weekend. That welcomes all (and no) pairings.

opentheiris on DW is kinda posting fic... everyone's bogged down in real life but there are and will be fic coming out for all versions of Stargate over the next few weeks.

And (fingers crossed) there should be a SGA Santa again this year... Watch for info to come.
